Originally from Baker Lake, Nelson Tagoona has performed since the age of 15, leveraging his talents and personal story to inspire youth through initiatives such as the non-profit organization Blueprint for Life, and the National Centre for the Arts’ Music Alive program.
Nelson’s performances have received national recognition including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, and he was named one of the “Top 10 Canadian Artists under 20” by CBC Music. His performances include the Northern Scene Festival at the National Arts Centre; Pan Am Games; the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Red Sky Performance (watch here); the Yucatán Symphony Orchestra in Mexico; and at numerous other festivals and events Canada-wide.
