Did you know that by the year 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish? For the health and wellbeing of our ocean and our planet, it is critical that we eliminate single use plastics. In this blog, scientist, plastic pollution expert and Canada C3 alum Rhiannon Moore shares her experiences and helpful tips in creating a plastic free life.

Rhiannon is a waste expert, science communicator, and Leg 12 alum of the Canada C3 expedition. She is currently the Zero Waste Outreach Coordinator for the City of Victoria, British Columbia.

Her previous research focused on microplastics in the Beluga food web, a project carried out through a unique partnership between Simon Fraser University, Ocean Wise, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) and the Inuvialuit community of Tuktoyaktuk, NWT. She is a member of the Expert Advisory Panel for the Plastics Action Centre (Recycling Council of Ontario) and a Science Advisor for Ocean Ambassadors Canada.

Rhiannon was named one of Canada’s #Top30Under30 Sustainability Leaders in 2018, and was the recipient of the 2018 Garfield Weston Award for Northern Research.
