Heidi is currently working on her bachelor’s degree, studying Government with a secondary in Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights at Harvard College. As a student, Heidi has worked with several organizations at her school such as the Natives at Harvard, the National Model United Nations, and the varsity rugby team to present awareness and advocacy programs on indigenous issues. More recently, Heidi has begun working with the Aboriginal Sport Circle at their national office in Ottawa, planning events like the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships and Aboriginal Coaching Program. Heidi is looking forward to chatting with fellow Arctic 2019 alum Nuiana and the rest of the Students on Ice community about youth engagement in policy.

Nuiana Hardenberg

Nuiana is an Inuk from Greenland, she is a current student at Hult International Business School, in America, where she is studying for a Bachelor in Business Administration. She is an SOI alum from the 2019 Arctic Expedition. Over the last two years, Nuiana has been working on the inclusion of youth environmentalists, by creating a youth engagement strategy for CAFF – Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna, and sharing the importance of youth participation in policymaking at the EU Arctic Forum in November 2021. Nuiana believes that collaborating with youth allows working on long-term solutions that is beneficial for everyone and it could help to minimize the effect of global warming because youth are passionate to create a secure future not only for them but also for future generations. In the future, Nuiana is hoping to continue her passion through collaborating or helping other organizations on the topic of biodiversity and youth engagement.
