SOI Arctic 2015 alum Shadunjen van Kampen recently made the news as quite possibly the first Yukon First Nations woman to receive her commercial pilot licence. Not only is she a role model for young women, but flying helps her stay connected to the land (or to her home?) and support environmental studies such as tracking caribou, counting moose and surveying salmon habitats. Way to go Shadunjen!
