Recipe from The Galley: Bannock
Making Palaugaq
HERE A BASIC RECIPE TO GET YOU STARTED.
- 5 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 4 tablespoons baking powder
- Mix dry ingredients
- Make round indent in dry ingredients
- Add about two cups of water
- Add about two cups of milk
Don’t stir too much! This will keep it fluffy
Just want dry ingredients wet
Add about a centimeter of oil to your medium heated pan
Add large blob of batter to pan Spread out batter in a circular pattern using two forks
Wait about 5 minutes until it’s golden brown on the bottom but turning it a few times so it cooks evenly and doesn’t stick
Gently flip over being careful not to spatter hot oil
Remove when golden brown on bottom
Let cool and then serve with topping of your choice. Great with jam, syrup, berries and hot tea
